SUMMER COURSES

During the COVID-19 pandemic we have been unable to run our residential courses.  We still wanted to provide support and teaching to international students therefore we started to offer Online Courses.  Our first online course was during the summer of 2020, followed by a winter course in 2020.  Due to their success we expanded our online provision in 2021 and were able to offer the following courses:

Pre-GCSE Course – 13-15 years.

This course is suitable for international students who will start Years 9 and 10 in September 2021.

Students will follow a set timetable, including intensive English Language, and the main GCSE subjects: Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History, Geography and Business Studies.

Recommended minimum English level for this course is a B1 / IELTS 4.0.

Pre-A-Level Course – 15-17 years. 

This course is suitable for international students who will start Year 12 in September 2021.

Students will follow an individual timetable, including intensive English Language, and choose three of the following subjects: Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Psychology, History, Geography and Economics/Business Studies.

Recommended minimum English level for this course is a B2 / IELTS 5.0.

Conversation Time, Socials & Activities Online

In addition to the academic subjects, students will have English Conversation Time, Clubs and Social Activity sessions with our Student Hosts. We want to bring in the amazing work our Student Hosts do in the summer to our online courses.

In 2021, our courses were a mix of live contact hours, alongside guided self-study.

Our maximum online course sizes are 8 students for study sessions, with some clubs and social activities having larger numbers at times.

On the Pre-GCSE Course each week students will have: 

  • English Language:  5 contact hours and 3-5 hours guided self-study
  • Main Subjects:  7 contact hours and 3-5 hours guided self-study
  • English Conversation Time:  3 contact hours
  • Clubs and Social Activities:  3 contact hours

On the Pre-A-Level Course each week students will have: 

  • English Language:  5 contact hours and 3-5 hours guided self-study
  • Main Subjects:  6 contact hours and 3-5 hours guided self-study
  • English Conversation Time:  4 contact hours
  • Clubs and Social Activities:  3 contact hours

Many international students experience a culture shock when they first join a UK school.  Our courses help students to prepare better, so they start at their new school feeling strong and confident.
