Etherton Education – Residential Summer Course Review

We have been reviewing the situation with our residential courses this summer. England moved into Step Two of the roadmap out of Lockdown on 12 April 2021. This saw the reopening of non-essential retail, outdoor hospitality venues, libraries, hairdressers, zoos, theme parks, personal care premises and self-contained holiday accommodation. The Government also announced some roadmap reviews in an update on 05 April 2021 with regards to exploring COVID-Status Certification (but did not confirm this would be put into use), The Global Travel Taskforce (more below), an Events Research program, a Review of Social Distancing (going from 2metres to 1metre). Each review point is to help restore the freedom and unlock the economy and society in England. You can read the full Government review HERE.
At this stage, there are still a lot of areas which we are not able to confirm. The main ones which are raising the most questions from our agents are about Quarantine and Travel. We are hopeful that with the introduction of the Global Travel Taskforce these areas may become clearer at the next roadmap step on 17 May 2021. At present it is not confirmed whether we are able to act as a quarantine centre for our students and it is not clear about the system for inbound travel.
Therefore, we are still hopeful that we will be able to run all of our residential courses this summer. We are going to remain open for applications but without requesting any deposit payments. We will be conducting our next review after the 17 May 2021, when we hope there will be more information available specific to our industry and in general for travel to and from the UK.
