From April 11th-12th 2015, Peter Etherton attended a brilliant workshop organised by the British Council in Baku, Azerbaijan. We had the opportunity to meet representatives and parents of potential students eager to study in the UK. Peter had the chance to not only meet students, but to get in touch with a few of our partner schools: St Mary’s Cambridge, Cardiff Sixth Form College, Cambridge Tutors College, John Leggott College, Bosworth Independent College and Friends’ School, Saffron Walden. 17 educational institutes attended, Etherton Education included, and everyone was extremely approachable and as excited as us to attend.
The fantastic initiative of the event was that there wasn’t an age limit on the attendees or a charge to enter the event; this meant we had the prospect of meeting a wide range of students.
The exhibition was a first time experience for us. Azerbaijan is an area we haven’t had the chance to promote Etherton Education in yet, and we are glad we finally had the opportunity to. The event was packed with prospective students, many of which we hope to hear from in the future. The entire trip exceeded our expectations with a warm and friendly atmosphere, as well as being highly organised.
There were presentations and workshops on boarding schools, pre-university preparation and courses, as well as English language courses during the exhibition. We were able to have our own table which we could use to promote Etherton with brochures and free USB pens and slapsticks full of previous summer photos and 2015 registration forms.
We had the extra wonderful help from Rosa Bethell, who was there as a right-hand woman to Peter Etherton to aid with translation and promotions. She was a fantastic extra to have alongside Etherton Education.
The event was overall very successful, and we hope to see everyone again soon!
