About Us

Introduction

Etherton Education Ltd is a specialist independent company, run by former teachers. Peter and Anne Etherton have been involved in teaching English to overseas students for over 30 years, and have strong links with Hong Kong and China. We both taught at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Peter Etherton is the author of over 100 textbooks, including Oxford English. He is also a former British Council ELT Specialist and IELTS Examiner. Anne Etherton has wide teaching and administration experience, and is a former Principal of Taunton International Study Centre.

We founded Etherton Education in 2002 because we know how difficult it is for overseas students when they first come to Britain. We wanted to design Summer Courses which would really look after them well, and provide an excellent bridge to their new education in the UK.

We visit China two or three times a year, meeting students, parents and agents. Do get in touch with us if you would like to meet us on our next trip.

Peter Etherton co-ordinates the academic curriculum, staffing, and materials development and is full-time Director of the Summer Courses.

Anne Etherton handles school placement, registration, finances, guardians, and co-ordinates arrivals and departures.

Roland Dixon (former Head of Science at Wellington School) acts as Deputy Director during the Summer Courses, and teaches biology.

Karen Jones deals with liaison with main schools, school placement, and marketing.

Alessa Tang, who is based in Shenzhen, PR China, deals with liaison with agents, as well as translation, testing and advising students and parents.

During the summer we also employ around 50 other staff, including qualified and experienced teachers and our very friendly and talented British Student Hosts.
